Health Tip: Getting a Good Day's Sleep

(HealthDay News) -- When you work the night shift, it may be difficult to fall asleep during the daylight hours.

The National Sleep Foundation offers these suggestions:

At the end of your shift and during your drive home, wear dark glasses to help your internal clock adjust. Use shades or curtains to darken your bedroom while you sleep. Keep the bedroom quiet with a white noise machine, fan or earplugs. Set the thermostat so your bedroom is cooler during the day. If you share the home, put a sign on the door that asks others to be quiet. Don't drink alcohol before bed, and cut out caffeine for several hours before you sleep.
