Constipation is medically defined as less than three bowel moments per week. If a person has less than one bowel movement per week, they are considered to have severe constipation. Symptoms of bloating and gas may accompany constipation.

What foods cause constipation?

Constipation is a common problem where people find it difficult to have bowel movements. Bowel movements may be too hard, difficult to pass, or infrequent. The medical definition of constipation is having fewer than three bowel movements per week, and severe constipation is defined as fewer than one bowel movement per week.
